I have extensive experience developing, managing, conducting and marketing Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) – related trainings and events through my six years of prior employment with the country’s two largest ADR membership organizations – the American Bar Association Section of Dispute Resolution and the Association for Conflict Resolution – and with the Ohio Commission on Dispute Resolution and Conflict Management, a state agency that administers ADR programs to Ohio citizens.
At the American Bar Association Section of Dispute Resolution, I developed, supported, designed and promoted nine major dispute resolution training programs and conferences. These events, which were held all over the United States as well as internationally,
included the annual Advanced Mediation and Advocacy Skills Training, the Arbitration Training Institute, and the International Mediation Leadership Summit held in The Hague, Netherlands.
Likewise, at the Association for Conflict Resolution, I collaborated with membership leaders to coordinate and promote the bi-annual Family Section conference. As staff for the association, I also supported two annual conferences offered to the entire membership of the association.
In addition to developing training for ADR professionals, I have also designed and executed events aimed at educating non-professionals and members of the public about ADR. While at the Ohio Commission on Dispute Resolution and Conflict Management, I co-created, organized and implemented eight basic and advanced mediation trainings to educate state employees about mediation techniques. I also provided support and logistics for four major events and ten day-long conflict resolution presentations focused on schools, court and community, and state and local government topics.
My project management experience also includes managing the publication of Dispute Resolution, the flagship magazine of the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution. I coordinated the layout, content, editing, review, printing and distribution of the magazine. I also managed a small team of experts in the development, creation and implementation of Words Work, a communication curriculum for middle school-aged youth. This curriculum combined the best of conflict resolution communication skills for use in afterschool programs.
