School Shooting Resources for Parents and Caregivers

 

The American Psychological Association has posted an article entitled, “Helping your children manage distress in the aftermath of a shooting” that outlines simple strategies to help navigate these trying times. The National Association of School Psychologists have posted tips for parents and teachers in helping students cope with a national tragedy and advice on how to promote compassion and acceptance in crisis.

The general consensus is to keep close to your children and limit their television viewing of the news covering these events.
